Monthly Meetings of the STBC

The club organizes an average of 8 to 12  monthly meetings a year inviting specialists in different fields to discuss issues on national, social, economic and business interest. The meetings are held at a Colombo hotel.

The STBC has, by far, organized some of the best and most, wide-ranging discussions over the years covering topics like the pensions debate (EPF/ETF), education, peace & conflict, impeachment of the chief justice, channeled practice and the impact on the public, unregulated finance companies after the collapse of the Golden Key Credit Card Co., the tsunami and its after-math, post war development, telecommunications, taxes and national budgets.

Our speakers range from one –time Education Ministry Secretary Nimal Bandara; Deepal Sooriyarachchi, Commissioner/Chairman of the Sri Lanka Inventors Commission; Thilak Karunaratne former Chairman of the Securities & Exchange Commission; Central Bank Governor Nivard Cabraal; Minister Sarath Amunugama, veteran business leaders like Ken Balendra, Merril J. Fernando, Hemaka Amarasuriya; former Colombo Mayor Omar Kamil; Opposition politicians Ravi Karunanayake & Harsha de Silva; economist Dr. Indrajith Coomaraswamy;  Immigration & Emigration Controller Chulananda Perera; well-known garment industrialist Ashraf Omar; new entrepreneurs – Ravi Liyanage and W.K.D.
